Four Decades of Precast in the Southern Tier

Binghamton Concrete Co. started in 1982 with one casting bay and a short list of customers — local excavators who needed manholes and catch basins that arrived square and sealed. Four decades later the product list runs from residential septic tanks to multi-cell box culverts carrying state highways, but the measure has not changed: does it fit the hole the first time.

Everything we sell is cast at our own plant. That matters more than it sounds. It means our QC department signs off on the same pour our drivers deliver, and when something needs to change at the last minute there is no third party in the middle. Our design staff, production crews, quality control, dispatch and set crews all work for the same company.

We are an approved manufacturer for NYSDOT, PennDOT, NYSOGS and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as well as numerous other government and private specifying groups — and our plant carries National Precast Concrete Association Quality Certification, which is re-audited every year.

Most of our work still comes from within an hour of the plant. We know which code office reviews what, which roads a 60,000-lb load can actually get down, and what the ground looks like when you open it up in this valley. That local knowledge is the part a national supplier cannot ship you.
