Four Decades of Concrete in the Southern Tier

Binghamton Concrete Co. is a family-run concrete contractor based on Phelps Street in Binghamton. We pour driveways, patios, walkways, slabs and foundations for homeowners and businesses across Broome and Tioga Counties.

Who we are

Our Story

Binghamton Concrete Co. started in 1982 with two people, a mixer and a short list of customers on the West Side. Four decades later we run multiple crews and our own excavation equipment, but the measure has not changed: is it flat, does it drain, and is it still tight in ten winters.

We do the whole job ourselves — excavation, base, forms, reinforcement, pour and finish. Nothing is handed to a sub you have never met. The person who quotes your job is on site the day it is poured, which means there is one number to call and nobody to point at when something needs sorting.

Most concrete failures around here are decided before the truck shows up. Not enough stone base, base that was never properly compacted, joints cut too far apart or too late, a slab pitched toward the house instead of away from it. None of it is visible once the concrete is finished, which is exactly why it is the easiest place for a cheap bid to save money.

So we will tell you what is in our price and what is probably missing from a lower one. Sometimes that conversation ends with us telling you the concrete you have is fine and you do not need us yet. We would rather do that than sell you a slab you did not need.

Company Milestones

  1. 1982

    Founded in Binghamton

Started as a two-man crew pouring driveways and sidewalks on the West Side, working out of a yard on Phelps Street.

  2. 1994

    Own excavation equipment

Bought our first excavator and skid steer so base prep stopped depending on a subcontractor’s schedule — the change that made single-day pours possible.

  3. 2006

    Flood recovery work

After the Susquehanna floods, spent two seasons replacing foundation aprons, walkways and basement floors across the First Ward and Johnson City flats.

  4. 2013

    Decorative concrete

Added stamped and stained finishes after enough customers asked for the look of flagstone without the settling and weeds of individual pavers.

  5. 2020

    Second crew

Added a second full crew so flat work and foundation work can run in parallel through the short Southern Tier pouring season.

How We Work

  1. 1

    Free On-Site Estimate

We walk the site with you, measure, check drainage and access, and leave a written per-square-foot price. No charge, no pressure, no salesperson.

  2. 2

    Excavation & Base Prep

We strip topsoil, excavate to depth and compact a crusher-run base in lifts. This is the step that decides whether concrete lasts thirty years or cracks in three.

  3. 3

    Forming & Reinforcement

Forms are set to line and grade with slope designed away from your foundation, then reinforced with rebar or welded wire mesh as the job calls for.

  4. 4

    Pour, Finish & Cure

We place air-entrained mix, screed, float and finish, cut control joints at the right spacing, then apply curing compound and clean the site before we leave.
